National Confederation of Dalit Organisations (NACDOR) invites all to join the Dignity March on 5th December, 10 AM, from Ramlila Maidan to Parliament. Led by the Dalits, the socially excluded from all over India come together on 5th December annually in Delhi to submit a charter of demands highlighting their plights, issues and concerns to the Parliament and the Prime Minister of the country. This year, apart from the issues of concerns to the socially excluded, the Dignity Rally focuses impact of climate change on them and it would submit its charter of demands to the Prime Minister and ten ministries of the central government and launch the observance of International Week for Climate Justice inviting all socially excluded to observe the week all over the world.

NACDOR is the acclaimed National Platform of Dalit Organisations of more than 1200 organisations spread all over India.

The Dignity March will highlight various demands of the socially excluded such as climate justice, separate electorate for Dalits, Employment Guarantee Act for the Urban Poor, Increase in the number of days under NREGA from 100 to 200- at least in the distress districts, Reservation in private sector, Making private sector accountable for the largesse offered to them by the government, institutionalize mechanisms to ensure that the CSR efforts of PSUs reach the Dalits, land reforms giving access to Dalit families on land, Redefining the poverty line to include all Dalit families as BPL, proper implementation of Prevention of atrocities act, quality basic services (education, health, drinking water, sanitation, housing, electricity) to all Dalit population, implementation of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Special Component Plans and end of all displacements and evictions of the Dalits from villages, slums and habitations. The participating organizations demand that the governments must come out with a fair deal on climate justice at Copenhagen ensuring that the rights and opportunities of the socially excluded are not compromised.

Thousands of Dalits men and women will stay at Ambedkar Bhawan, Pachkuian Road in New Delhi and a number of events, including cultural programmes, discussions, film shows, lighting candles shall be organised on 4th and 5th December 2009. Different delegations will go to different ministries to submit the charter of demands. On 6th December, the 53rd Parinirvan Divas (the Death Anniversary) of Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the participants will pay their homage to him at the statue inside the Parliament.
