Asmita Theatre Group presents -
Gulzar's "Kharaashein " at Amphitheatre, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on 26th & 27th June at 7.30 pm

and Ashok Lal's -"Ek Mamooli Aadmi" on 27th June 7pm at Sri Ram centre, Mandi House New Delhi.

Kharaashein - Compilation of Gulzar's poetries and stories done by Salim Aarif.
Directed by Arvind Gaur - is a true union of poetry and theatre. It moves without being sentimental and challenges human irrationality and fear without preaching and points ever so gently to the essential humanity in people of different religions and beliefs. The stories revolve around the backdrop of partition and the riots that have happened in its aftermath, but still the message remains extremely universal in nature and questions the basic nature of humanity that fights against oneself – be it during a partition in India, a civil war in Africa or the form of Jehad that terrorizes the world that we today live in.

For those who witnessed the partition of India in 1947 and the widespread communal rioting and bloodshed that followed, watching a performance of "Kharaashein" would be a deeply emotional experience. It would be intensely moving as well for those born after that boil-over of hatred has abated, but spectators nonetheless of the repeated eruptions of communal hatred in one part of the country or another, in the years following Independence.
