Well, knock me over with a feather! 'Libyan rebels' to start oil exports soon 27 Mar 2011 Oil fields in rebel-held territory in Libya are producing between 100,000 and 130,000 barrels a day, and the opposition plans to begin exporting oil "in less than a week", a rebel representative said on Sunday. "We are producing about 100,000 to 130,000 barrels a day, we can easily up that to about 300,000 a day," said Ali Tarhoni, the rebel representative responsible for economy, finance and oil, at a news conference. He said the [US-funded] rebel government had agreed an oil contract with Qatar, which would market the crude, and that he expected exports to begin in "less than a week". [Well, at least there's no doubt as to why the USociopaths invaded.]

US officials: Libyan operation could last months 27 Mar 2011 U.S.-led military action in Libya has bolstered rebels fighting Moammar Gadhafi's forces, but the international operation could continue for months, the Obama administration says. ...Defense Secretary Robert Gates was asked on ABC's "This Week" if that would mean a U.S. military commitment until year's end, Gates said, "I don't think anybody knows the answer to that." The lack of clarity on that question reflects a worry for lawmakers clamoring to hear fuller explanations from the administration on why the U.S. was embroiling itself in another Muslim conflict and what the ultimate goals of the intervention are. [That would be *oil,* of course. Notice the Libyan rebels aka US-funded insurgents seize and protect the oil towns and refineries *first?*]

Germany: Sarkozy remarks dangerous 27 Mar 2011 Germany has slammed French President Nicolas Sarkozy's comments about the possibility of Europe's military intervention in the Arab world. "I am very concerned by the latest public remarks, including from European partners, that we are not just talking about Libya but also about other Arab leaders," Germany's Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle told a Berlin radio station on Friday. Referring to Sarkozy's speech at a European Union summit in Brussels late Thursday, Westerwelle said it was "dangerous" to threaten military action against autocratic Arab leaders other than Gaddafi.

NATO decision body meets to consider Libya air strikes 27 Mar 2011 NATO's top decision-making body meets Sunday to expand its enforcement of the no-fly zone to include air strikes against Libyan ground targets. The North Atlantic Council agreed on Friday that the alliance should take on the no-fly zone in accordance with the U.N. Security Council's mandate. A Canadian three-star general, Charles Bouchard, will take charge. He reports to a U.S. admiral, Samuel Locklear, commander of NATO's Allied Joint Force Command Naples.

'NATO terrorizing and killing Libyans' 28 Mar 2011 Libya has accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of terrorizing and killing its civilians as part of attacks against forces loyal to the embattled Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi. "The terror people live in, the fear, the tension is everywhere. And these are civilians who are being terrorized every day," Reuters quoted Libyan government spokesman Mussa Ibrahim as saying in the capital Tripoli on Sunday. "We believe the unnecessary continuation of the air strikes is a plan to put the Libyan government in a weak negotiating position. NATO is prepared to kill people, destroy army training camps and army checkpoints and other locations," he added.

'US drops uranium bombs on Libya' 27 Mar 2011 The Stop the War Coalition says the bombs and missiles that the US-led military alliance has dropped on several Libyan cities contain depleted uranium (DU). The report recently published on the Coalition's website said that in the first 24 hours of the war on Libya, dozens of bombs and cruise missiles were launched by US, British, and French forces -- all with depleted uranium warheads. US B-2 aircraft dropped forty-five 2,000-pound bombs on key Libyan cities, it added.

US protesters condemn Libya attacks 27 Mar 2011 Anti-war protesters have gathered in front of the White House in Washington DC to denounce the US-led airstrikes on Libya which began last week. The demonstrators, protesting the US involvement in the war, shouted anti-war slogans and sang in front of the White House on Sunday as US-led Western warplanes intensify their aerial attacks on forces loyal to Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi, a Press TV correspondent in Washington reported. The anti-war protest comes two days after similar demonstrations were held in the United States on the eighth anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq.

Recycled revolutionary "props" By Tony Cartalucci 19 Feb 2011 ...The exact same logo would turn up 11 years later across the Mediterranean Sea in the streets of Cairo, illustrating further the preposterous, foreign-backed nature of the Egyptian uprisings... After its success, Serbia's Otpor would continue receiving funds from the West and become a "CIA-coup college" of sorts, under the name CANVAS, or "Center for Applied Non-Violent Action and Strategies." It appears that after the Egyptian April 6 Youth Movement finished attending the US State Department funded confab in New York City in 2008, it would make a trip to visit CANVAS in 2009. From there, it took CANVAS's "curriculum" and apparently their logo, and began assembling a US-funded mob in Egypt. Amongst CANVAS's current "partners" are the Albert Einstein Institution, Freedom House, and the International Republican Institute (IRI).

NATO tankers torched in Afghanistan 27 Mar 2011 Taliban Militants have destroyed at least eight oil tankers belonging to US-led forces in Afghanistan's western Farah Province, officials say. Taliban militants attacked NATO tankers in the city of Farah on Sunday. Local officials say the tankers were headed for Helmand Province.

Afghan car bomb kills 20, injures 50 28 Mar 2011 At least 20 people have been killed and 50 others injured after a massive bomb explosion targeted a construction company in eastern Afghanistan. "An explosive-laden car went off near a compound of a local construction company in Barmal district in Paktika province late on Sunday," a Press TV correspondent quoted spokesman for provincial administration Mukhlis Afghan as saying on Monday.

Canadian soldier killed in Afghan war 28 Mar 2011 A US-led soldier has been killed in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistan, bringing to 101 the number of foreign troops killed in the war-torn country so far this year. The 24-year-old Canadian soldier with the US-led International Security Assistance Force, Yannick Scherrer, was killed on Sunday noon when an improvised explosive device went off near the village of Nakhonay in the Panjwaii district, located about 25 kilometers (15 miles) southwest of Kandahar City, CBC news agency reported.

Another multi-billion-dollar bl*wjob for the Pentagon, with no end in sight: Pentagon spends billions to fight roadside bombs, with little success 27 Mar 2011 In February 2006 [under Bush, now bloating under his progeny, Obama], with roadside bombs killing more U.S. soldiers in Iraq, the Pentagon created an agency to defeat the deadly threat and tasked a retired four-star general to run it. Five years later, the agency has ballooned into a 1,900-employee behemoth and has spent nearly $17 billion on hundreds of initiatives... [Of course, if we got the f*ck out of there or never invaded in the first place, the roadside bombs -- that the US unsubs likely sold to them in the first place -- would be *moot.*] A review by the Center for Public Integrity and McClatchy Newspapers of government reports and interviews with auditors, investigators and congressional staffers show that the agency - the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization - also violated its own accounting rules and hasn't properly evaluated its initiatives to keep mistakes from being repeated. [Yeah, let's get the quote, unquote entitlement programs on the chopping block while these sociopaths drain the US Treasury for their Wall Street//'Defense' Department over-lords. --LRP]

Cooling at Two of Japan's Nuclear Reactors Delayed as Radiation Increases 27 Mar 2011 Efforts to repair the cooling systems at the No. 2 and No. 3 reactors at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant are being delayed by the need to drain radioactive water from the floors, Tokyo Electric Power Co. said. Tests found radiation levels at 100,000 times the normal level in the No. 2 reactor at the plant, and the reactor may be leaking water, Vice President Sakae Muto said at a briefing broadcast on the Internet.

Japan radioactive 1,850 times legal level 27 Mar 2011 Radioactivity near Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant has risen to 1,850 times the legal level as the nuclear crisis is worsening in the quake-hit country. Japan's nuclear safety agency said on Sunday that radioactive iodine in the waters off the quake-hit site rose to 1,850 times the usual level from 1,250 times measured on Saturday. Separately, senior agency official Hidehiko Nishiyama said leakage from reactor vessels was likely to have been the cause for high levels of radiation found in water that has accumulated in turbine buildings, Reuters reported.

Radiation in seawater may be spreading in Japan 28 Mar 2011 Highly radioactive iodine seeping from Japan's damaged  Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex may be making its way into seawater farther north of the plant than previously thought, officials said Monday, adding to radiation concerns as the crisis stretches into a third week. Mounting problems, including badly miscalculated radiation figures and no place to store dangerously contaminated water, have stymied emergency workers struggling to cool down the overheating plant and avert a disaster with global implications.

Workers evacuated from Japan nuclear plant 27 Mar 2011 Workers have been evacuated after very high radiation levels were detected at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi plant as the nuclear crisis is worsening in the quake-hit country. According to Japan's Jiji news agency, workers were evacuated from a reactor building they were working in after high doses of radiation ten million times the usual level were detected at the plant's reactor No.2. on Sunday.

DPH: Trace Amounts of Radiation Detected In Rainwater Samples In Massachusetts 28 Mar 2011 Trace amounts of I-131, a radioactive form of elemental iodine, resulting from Japan's nuclear radioactive fallout has been detected in a rainwater sample in Massachusetts, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, or DPH. In a statement released yesterday, the department said that until Japan's Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant is stabilized, I-131 may continue to be detected as it rains in Massachusetts.

Radiation found in Massachusetts rainwater 27 Mar 2011 Trace amounts of radioactive iodine linked to Japan's crippled nuclear power station have turned up in rainwater samples as far away as Massachusetts during the past week, state officials said on Sunday. The low level of radioiodine-131 detected in precipitation at a sample location in Massachusetts is comparable to findings in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

Radiation from Japan reaches Nevada 26 Mar 2011 Minuscule amounts of radiation from Japan's damaged nuclear plant have reached Las Vegas. Small amounts of the radioactive isotopes iodine-131 and xenon-133 reached a monitoring station by the city's Atomic Testing Museum this week, said Ted Hartwell, manager of the Desert Research Institute's Community Environmental Monitoring Program. Hartwell said he's certain the isotopes came from Japan because they're not usually detected in Nevada.

US radiation monitoring system was not working 27 Mar 2011 The key radiation warning system in the US was out of action prior to the weekend. AP has reported that four of the 11 stationary monitors in California, near the San Andreas Faault, were offline for 'repairs or maintenance' last week. With possible exposure to fallout from a nuclear crisis in Japan, legislators have called for more tests on the system to determine whether it can adequately safeguard the country against disasters, such as the one that has befallen the Japanese. [US corpora-terrorists ensure that the monitors are disabled.]

200,000 in Germany protest nuclear power 26 Mar 2011 Tens Hundreds of thousands of people on Saturday turned out in Germany's largest cities to protest the use of nuclear power in the wake of Japan's Fukushima reactor disaster, police and organizers said. In Berlin alone more than 100,000 took to the capital's streets to urge Germany's leaders to immediately abolish nuclear power, police spokesman Jens Berger said. Organizers said some 250,000 people marched at the "Fukushima Warns: Pull the Plug on all Nuclear Power Plants" rallies in the country's four largest cities, making them the biggest anti-nuclear protest in the country's history.

Calif. man airlifted to hospital after bomb explodes in his newspaper --Travis Air Force Base personnel and bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in, as were Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives personnel and the California Highway Patrol's bomb squad. 27 Mar 2011 A Vacaville man was airlifted to a hospital on Sunday after a pipe bomb that was hidden in his morning paper exploded, a police spokesman said. At about 10:20 a.m., Vacaville police received a report of an explosion at Cashel Circle, police spokesman Mark Mazzaferro said. When officers arrived, they discovered that when a man went out to get his newspaper it exploded.

Explosive device explodes in Calif. neighborhood --Within a half-mile radius, phone calls went out to neighbors to alert them of the bomb threat. 27 Mar 2011 (Vacaville, CA) An explosive device that was wrapped up in a newspaper detonated injuring one person in the Browns Valley area of Vacaville. The person bent down to reach for a newspaper and that's when the explosion happened. After the explosion, the person was taken to the hospital. The Vacaville police have clarified the explosive device that detonated was not an acid bomb and can't be described as a pipe bomb.

Anti-cuts march draws hundreds of thousands as police battle rioters 27 Mar 2011 More than a quarter of a million people have marched through central London to deliver a powerful message about the government's cuts in public spending. The generally good-natured mood was soured [sic] by violent and destructive attacks on symbols of wealth including the Ritz, banks and a luxury car dealer, and an occupation of the upmarket food store Fortnum and Mason.

Wisconsin's Walker Sued by Unions as Labor Law Published 26 Mar 2011 Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was sued by two labor unions over a bill restricting collective bargaining by public employees while a state bureau published the law after the secretary of state was ordered not to do so. A union representing public works employees in Wisconsin's capital city of Madison and another for firefighters and other public safety officers seek in the state court complaint filed yesterday to have the law invalidated.

Navy training linked to at least 3 dolphin deaths off San Diego coast 26 Mar 2011 A Naval training exercise that included an underwater blast off San Diego's coast has been linked to at least three dolphin deaths earlier this month, prompting a probe into whether the military violated the federal law that protects marine mammals. The National Marine Fisheries Service plans to take another look at the Navy's pending request to disturb [kill] marine mammals between Imperial Beach and Coronado, where it conducts amphibious and special warfare training, agency leaders told the San Diego Union-Tribune on Friday.
