By the year 2008, the Americans had become so fed up of flawed policies of George Bush that they accepted a Blackman in the White House for the first time under the fond hope that he would bring a real change for the better. It did not take long for all those who had pinned hopes on him to get thoroughly disillusioned. He is yet to fulfill any of the promises he made. While Obama is on record having admitted that extremism cannot be defeated solely through military means, yet he is making use of instrument of force. His Administration is continuing with the policy of using drones, troop surge and military operations. After first troop surge of 21000 in early 2009, he has sanctioned another 30000 surge to stabilize Afghanistan which is fast slipping out of the hands of ISAF.  Marylin B. young, a professor in New York University has criticized this dual faced policy where acts and deeds do not match. Dr Christine Fair, member of RAND Co. expressed her doubts about troop surge whether more troops would help in securing Afghanistan. In her opinion it would entail more civilian losses and further economic depletion. During election campaign, Obama had declared war in Iraq as misguided war. Most political analysts opine that Afghanistan may turn out to be a bigger military quagmire for the US forces than in Iraq.

Winston Churchill said, "Democracy is the worst form of government except for all those others that have been tried." And the same very sage also said, "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." What has the average voter in Pakistan to say about the present democracy, should not be difficult to ascertain? He is not only dismayed and disillusioned but has also started remembering fondly the era of the usurper. It must ring alarm and cause great concern to the politicians. The main reason for the malaise to my mind is the substandard material found in the secondary and tertiary tiers of the political parties – that is the MPAs and the MNAs. The political parties seem to be dependent more upon the personalities rather than their political ideology and as such try to field the candidates accordingly overlooking the ir obvious failings to contest the elections. For example, during the recent bye elections a gentleman who had been unseated from the assembly for committing forgery – presenting a fake graduation degree – was again given the party ticket to contest now that the graduation condition had been removed by the Dogar court.

RSS is one of the major organizations in the country which influences and controls different political and semi political organizations, calling themselves as Sangh Parivar. It does claim to be a cultural organization, but it is implementing its political agenda of achieving Hindu Nation by creating organizations, which implement its ideology and political agenda at different layers, by different means. While its progenies claim that they are autonomous, their autonomy is a 'controlled autonomy', the boundaries of their autonomy are decided by RSS, which directly or indirectly controls them. It is due to these facts that the statement of the Sarsanghchalak (Chief) of RSS cannot be taken lightly, they tell us about the political ideology of this combine and give the indication of the dynamics of politics which this organization is going to implement in times to come.
