Press Release           NHRC's biennial awards for original writing on human rights and translated works in Hindi announced   New Delhi, July 25th, 2011 The National Human Rights Commission has announced its biennial awards for original writing in Hindi on human rights and Hindi translation of outstanding books in English and other Indian languages for the years 2008 and 2009.  For original writing, Dr. Subhash Sharma's book 'Bharat Main Manavadhikar' has been selected for the first prize of Rs. 50,000/-. In the same category, Mr. Manohar Batham's 'Astitva Ka Sankat Aur Manavadhikar' and Mrs. Swati Tiwari's 'Akele Hote Log' have been shortlisted for the second prize of Rs. 40,000/- each.  Mr. Arjun Singh Rawat's 'Batmaar' has been chosen for the third prize for Rs. 30,000/-.  Dr. (Mrs.) Mamta Chandrashekhar's 'Manavadhikar Aur Mahilayen' and Mr. Kanhaiya Tripathy's 'Adivasi Samaj Aur Manavadhikar' have been selected for consolation prizes of Rs. 10,000/- each. In the translation category, only one book 'Rang Rajtarangini' translated by Dr. Gaurishankar Raina has been shortlisted for the second prize for Rs. 25,000/-.  The awards will be given to the winners at a function to be organized by the Commission later on.  Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Secretary General, NHRC headed the selection committee comprising Prof. Girishwar Mishra, Department of  Psychiatry, Delhi University, Prof. Gopeshwar Singh, Hindi Department, Delhi University, Mr. J.P.
