Senior Lawmaker Voices Iran's Full Support for Libyan Nation

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament's First Vice-Speaker Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard on Tuesday underlined Tehran's support for Muslim nations, specially the Libyan people, in their uprisings against dictatorial regimes.

Aboutorabi-Fard condemned the brutalities and crimes against the Libyan people by the country's leader Muammar Gaddafi and expressed the Islamic Republic of Iran's full support for the Libyan nations' revolutionary movement.

"The Islamic Revolution has brought about vigilance to the Islamic Ummah (community)," he stated, hoping for victory of all Muslim nations in near future.

The Libyan leader has recently faced an unprecedented revolt against his 41-year rule.

Despite a brief 22-second television appearance on Monday, Gaddafi's grip on the country appears increasingly shaky as loyalists quit. Several fighter pilots have also defected after being ordered to fire on demonstrators.

The uprising has spread to the capital, with gunfire rattling Tripoli, where protesters attacked police stations and the offices of the state broadcaster and set government buildings ablaze.

Human rights groups say the Libyan government's crackdown has killed between 200 and 400.
